Behind the Movie Kodi Punju: Young boy Tanish had a flying start to career is now trying hard for mass image. Joining him is Roja and Anchal for this pucca mass title. Let us see, how far did they win?
In the Movie Kodi Punju: Abhimanyu (Tanish) is the only son of Seetharatnam (Roja) living in a small Andhra village. Abhi is so connected to her mother that he would not do any work without her permission. He goes for ICET coaching in nearby town and falls in love with the girl Nandini (Anchal). She is daughter of Ramachandra Rao (Shivakrishna), who is the most respected village president.
There is opponent Bapineedu and his brother who eye on Ramachandra Rao’s chair. Bapineedu’s brother joins Abhi gang and sees that the love story is reached to Ramachandra Rao eyes. Obviously love affair of Abhi and Nandini is disapproved for a reason. In a momentary anger, Ramachandra Rao uses foul language to insult Seetharatnam. Ferocious Abhi challenges Ramachandra Rao to defeat him in local elections and prove their worth. How Bapineedu takes advantage of the situation? Who won the seat finally? What is the connection between Abhi and Ramachandra Rao forms the climax.
Values and Out of the Movie Kodi Punju: If you are expecting a mass masala treat observing the title, then your appetite will only be half fullfilled. Story of the film reminds you about the 1980 village backdrop storylines with challenges and action episodes. Director BVV Chowdary has shown nothing new in his projection. Neither there was great depth in narration nor was there an innovative point in his story telling. He cooked a tasteless routine formula dish. Shiva Kumar’s cinematography well caught some village locales but in key scenes, it looked normal. Editing by Nagi Reddy was also a mediocre work. Actual strength of film could have been the dialogues from Sri Ram. Unfortunately neither punch lines nor powerful dialogues ignited the feel in film. Same do apply for the music of Anup Rubens. Production values of Shailendra Cinemas were average.
Performance wise, Roja is only the show stealer with powerful diction throwing challenges and threats. Hero Tanish looked unfit for the role. Although tried to elevate him self as mass hero but he should have worked a bit on body while mouthing fierce dialogues with expressions. Coming to chemistry of hero and heroine, this is again unconvincing. Anchal is hot but character sidelined with no importance. Same do apply for Shivakrishna who looses importance in entire second half. Rest of the cast is just okay.
Director BVV Chowdary could have easily come out with a full length entertainer, if his mixture of sentiment, action, comedy, glamour were of correct does. He lost the track much before establishing the central point of film. Basically, excitement and effective narration was never maintained in entire length. There is nothing original in content; everything is a copy from some 1980 films. Nothing much difference in first and second half. Both are below average standards. BO wise, there is no chance of Kodi Punju fighting with opponent films.
