Ferrari Ki Sawaari (2012) Movie Review:

Many termed it as a 'financial suicide', a 'big risk', but producer Vidhu Vinod Chopra paid no heed to such criticisms and went his way to make his audience look at the world differently. And that's what he did finally through his beautiful creation Ferrari Ki Sawaari. After watching Ferrari Ki Sawaari, one might think that at times, it is worth taking 'risk'. The film is an honest attempt by debutant director Rajesh Mapuskar, a geniune and intelligent plot, that would make you sit and watch an ordinary man's sky touching dreams and his earnest efforts to make it come true, at any cost.

Story: Ferrari Ki Sawaari narrates the tale of Rustam (Sharman Joshi), an ordinary Government employee, going a risky way to fulfill his son Kayo's dream. Kayo is an extraordinary budding cricketer, who gets selected for a prestigious cricket camp at the Lords Stadium, London. But, what plays a hindrance in Kayo's travel to London is a large amount of fees. And that's where the real story commences after Rustam takes it upon himself to somehow get hold of the large fee of Rs 1.5 lakhs in order to send Kayo to London. He gets lured by a wedding planner, who promises him to pay the entire amount only if he could borrow Sachin Tendulkar's Ferrari for a few hours for a wedding purpose. But unfortunately, things go the other way and Rustam gets into trouble, after he mistakenly steals Sachin's Ferrari. What happens next? Watch it to know!

Performances: Ferrari Ki Sawaari is Sharman Joshi's first solo movie and to our surprise, his character in the film would make people sit and notice his calibre as an actor. Sharman plays a heart-warming and a lovable character, portraying his extraordinary acting skills. Zayo (Ritvik Sahore) is a brilliant discovery, who plays more like a Junior Sachin Tendulkar. A brilliant player, who finally makes it happen to the Lords, stands tall as a young and budding talent of the industry. Boman Irani delivers a smashing performance as Rustam's father. Irani plays a marvellous role and unarguably leaves a mark as a superb actor. What would make you love the film is that the other characters like Sachin's lazy guard, his servant, the garage man (Samshu bhai), the wedding planner, the councillor's son Pakya, wouldn't go unnoticed. They leave a mark in the film for their respective colourful role and brilliant performances.

A special applaud goes to director Rajesh Mapuskar, who has gone off beat to create such a heart-warming tale, that very much relates to an ordinary man's larger than life dreams. The film wins your heart with the amazing father-son chemistry, Sharman's understandability of his son's untold fantasies, his desperation and earnest effort to make the loan pass for Kayo's London tour, were just incredible. The grumpy, sweet old Boman Irani, who passes his days and nights, watching TV and cracking peanuts and his final transformation as a responsible grandpa, who too will be seen making efforts to send Kayo to London, needs a special reference.
Music: The movie falls badly, when it comes to its music. Though Vidya Balan's lavani song, adds some colour to the film, yet on the whole, music part is a sure disappointment. And for all those, who are very curious to watch out Sachin's cameo in the movie, it still remains a secret.

Verdict: On the whole, Ferrari Ki Sawaari is worth-watching. It is a tribute to all the young budding players of the nation, who dream to grow up as India's second Master Blaster. Though the film is way to far from the stereotyped mirch masala movies, it would teach you to dream big and make it possible.
