Avan Ivan Review – Story/ Plot
Arya as Kumbiduren Saamy and Vishal as Walter Vanangamudi are brothers born to Ananth Vaidyanathan, who plays their father but born to different Mothers. Walter lives with his mother Mary played by Ambika. Walter and Kumbiduren are happy brothers who goes around the village having fun in their own way. Kumbiduren wants to follow his father who does petty thefts, while Walter wants to become a actor, a hero.

Walter and Kumbiduren Saamy are close to the Village Jameen, played by GM Kumar who is a rich and influential landlord. He helps the villagers, while seeks respect in return from the village people. The one who seeks respect, gets insulted by a forest officer. The Jameen with the help of Kumbiduren and Walter seeks revenge at the forest officer. The two confronts the forest officer and attacks him. The police rushes to the spot, but the two get away somehow.

Another story revolves around the movie's villain played by RK, who sells cattle to Kerala from Tamilnadu border for slaughter. The Village Jameen gets to know of RK's work and he with the help of Blue Cross, sends Rk to jail.

When RK comes back, he kills the village Jameen. When the brother Kumbiduren and Walter gets to know, they take a revenge on him.

Avan Ivan Review – Positives, Negatives

• Bala's Characterization. The comedy of the film has worked in his favor. The movie though has some cliches the screenplay has made it different.
• There is no doubt that from the beginning of the making of the film, there has been so much riding on Vishal's character as he has been playing the role of a squint and has done a fab job.
• The Camera work has been done really well. Theni's look and feel is felt by the audience with its realistic portrayal.
• Arya too has done his part neatly and is good to watch his comic side, after his Boss Engira Baskaran's success.
• The female leads Janani Iyer and Madhu Shalini have portrayed their parts well.
• GM Kumar is equally good after Vishal in the movie, who has proved his mettle in his acting.
• Ambika, RK as villain, Surya's guest appearance adds to the casting.
• Yuvan Shankar Raja's score has added to the movie's feel.
• Now coming to the negatives, the second half of the movie gets slow and a bit dragging. The Director though knows how to have off beat stories clipped with commercial elements, to have the audience engaging and enjoy the film, he could have avoided some cliches in the movie, which is kind of predictable.
